What sort of portrait photography do you do?

I am a modern family portrait photographer in Sunderland and my style is less posed, more candid and natural and I try to make your session a fun experience.

How do I book a session with you?

Great! I’m thrilled you would like to book a session with me! Either give me a call or fill out the form on my Contact page and I will call you.

We’ll have a quick chat over the phone about you, your family, what it is you’re looking for, how it will fit within your home decor and who will be getting photographed in the session.

I will then explain what it is I can do for you and how I can help you achieve your ideas about what you want from your photography.

If you’re happy with that we can book our consultation meeting where we can meet up for coffee (or something stronger if you fancy!) and go into more detail about your session: where to have it, what to wear, places in your home where you would like to display the wall art. I can show you product samples to give you an idea what to expect from your finished product.

Then it is a simple matter of arranging the session at a time and location that suits you!

When do I pay?

After we have had our consultation to talk about what it is you are looking for, if you are happy to book with me and we arrange a session, I would ask for the session payment up front.

Any order you place for wall art must be paid for at the time of ordering.

If you are booking a package I will require a deposit of 10% of the total cost.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept cash, cheque, PayPal, credit and debit cards and Apple Pay.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! If you wish to spread the cost of your payment I will work out a payment plan that is more manageable for you.

When do I see the images from the session?

I will try to get your images ready and uploaded to my online gallery as soon as possible. However please allow 4-5 working days before I email you the link.

Do I get digital files?

As a general rule I do not give out digital images. I want your prints to be of the best quality, colour correction and exposure and this cannot be done by a rush-job at the supermarket’s self-serve kiosk.

For any photographic print or piece of wall art purchased I will provide the corresponding image as a low-resolution digital file for sharing on social media, however they will not be of sufficiently high quality for printing.

If you are absolutely, positively insistent on having a full set of high-resolution digital images, I will provide them along with a print release form for a fee.

All digital files are released for sharing with friends and family. This way you will at least have a backup copy should your files get corrupted or lost from your computer.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?

I understand that things come up, people get sick and other things beyond our control happen. I will do everything possible to try and reschedule your session.

You may reschedule with me provided you can give me 24 hours notice before your booked session.

Any no-shows with no given notice will forfeit their session fee.

I also reserve the right to reschedule due to illness, weather, equipment malfunction, or other circumstances beyond my control.

What if I don’t have the time to show up for three meetings?

Having a photography session is probably something you will only do once, maybe twice in a lifetime. If it something you really want, we can find the time!

I can meet you for the consultation at your home, during your lunch hour for 15 minutes. If you are really pushed for time for a consultation we can take 15 minutes before your session to talk things over. The sessions are held late afternoon to early evening when the light is best.

Finally I can present the images to you at your home on your television screen on an evening or weekend. You will find that making time to spare one hour to completely view your images and make your decision there and then turns out to be quicker than looking through them and trying to come to a decision at home in your own time.

But I don’t want to have lots of huge pieces of art or a shrine to my family!

You need not have lots of huge pieces. One large statement piece is enough to display on a prominent wall. You can purchase smaller pieces to hang throughout the house and that way it won’t seem like a shrine or take up as much space as you fear it will.

My kids refuse to sit still! How will you handle them?

Great! I don't do sitting still photos. I'm happy to let the kids run around for a while to expend their energy and I can get some playful photos of them while they are running and showing off their exuberant personalities.

As their parents you are more than welcome to get in on the act, swing them upside down and grab and tickle them as they run past! Bring a couple of their favourite toys so that when they are ready for more relaxed family photos they have something familiar to cuddle.

I will also have some toys and props for them to play with and distract them but if all else fails you can't go wrong with some sweet treats as bribery!

What if I don’t have the wall space?

Even if you have a vertical chimney breast as a bare wall, I can find you something to hang there! Unless you live in a glass house with absolutely zero wall space, in which case I can design you a custom photobook album to live on your coffee table or bookcase.
